The Ethiopian pharmaceutical landscape is undergoing a transformative era — one defined by innovation, collaboration, and a shared vision for equitable and resilient healthcare. This vision was powerfully reflected at two significant milestones in August 2025: the 45th Annual Scientific Conference and the Closing of the 50th Golden Jubilee of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association (EPA) and LifeCare’s Annual Meeting.

Celebrating 50 Years of Pharmaceutical Excellence with the EPA
The 45th Annual Scientific Conference and Golden Jubilee Closing Ceremony was held on 01–02 August 2025 at the Inter-Luxury Hotel, Addis Ababa, under the theme “Transforming Pharmacy in Ethiopia for Equitable and Resilient Healthcare.” This pivotal event brought together a wide range of stakeholders — including pharmacists, healthcare professionals, regulators, industry leaders, and innovators.
The conference was officially opened by H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health, Ethiopia. Discussions and presentations centered on the evolving role of pharmacy in strengthening Ethiopia’s health system, with key topics including:
- Pharmaceutical leadership and governance
- Digital health innovations and integration
- Strengthening pharmaceutical supply chains
- Advancing clinical pharmacy practices
- Ensuring equitable access to essential medicines
LifeCare proudly participated as an exhibitor, engaging with peers, sharing insights, and reinforcing its commitment to advancing pharmaceutical practice in Ethiopia. The Golden Jubilee closing ceremony paid tribute to five decades of EPA’s contributions to the profession, honoring outstanding contributors and underscoring the importance of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional development in shaping the next 50 years of pharmacy in the country.

Aligning Strategy and Vision: LifeCare’s Annual Meeting
On August 8, 2025, LifeCare held its Annual Meeting at the Best Western Hotel, a crucial internal event bringing together the full team across three key strategic pillars:
Management & Strategic Pillars
- Management & Leadership: Executive and Technical Management
- Business & Strategy: Marketing and Sales, Business Development, Tender, Regulatory Affairs
- Operations & Support: Warehouse, Transit/Logistics, Finance, HR, and Office Administration
The session served as a platform for each group to present their annual plans, outline strategic priorities, and align around shared objectives. The discussions emphasized clarity of roles, accountability, and operational excellence across the organization.
Ambitious Targets for Growth
LifeCare set ambitious targets for the year ahead — 1 billion Birr in private market sales and over USD 60 million in tender sales — goals that reflect both the company’s strong market position and its strategic commitment to growth.
The meeting reinforced a unified vision: to work stronger, smarter, and together. By driving operational efficiency, strengthening partnerships, and maintaining a sharp focus on impact, LifeCare is well positioned to achieve these goals and continue contributing meaningfully to Ethiopia’s healthcare system.
Looking Ahead to a More Resilient Ethiopia
As the pharmaceutical sector continues to evolve, external events like EPA’s Golden Jubilee and strategic internal moments such as LifeCare’s Annual Meeting are more than milestones — they are catalysts for transformation. Through collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose, LifeCare remains dedicated to supporting a healthier, more resilient Ethiopia.
